What is a warm heart? It is very simple. Our existence is carried by two fundamental forces, one very subtle and one a very gross: Consciousness and sexuality (the life force) – light and joy – seeing and wanting. These two energies meet in the heart, and make us wholesome human beings. With consciousness alone we become loving, empathic, full of understanding and wise, but powerless and indifferent; with interest alone we become smart, deeply engaged, brutally bold, and strong, but totally selfish and entirely blind. When these two forces meet in a balanced way in us, we grow a heart and become loving, warm, engaged and interested, but still wise, compassionate and appropriate. We become the kind of human beings that can survive on the planet in the future – the kind of people who can walk the planet in thousand years. Søren Ventegodt suggests in this book that a hidden oneness in our consciousness makes us all contribute to the evolution of man, when we wake up and find good solutions for our deep existential problems.
