Abstract

A case study is presented that investigated how person with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) was affected by trauma, contributed to arson and terroristic threats. Since universally accepted empirical measures are not available to assess trauma and arson for individuals with ASD, a case analysis approach was utilized. This case analysis is noteworthy given that it identified the critical role that trauma played in mediating the relationship between an autism spectrum disorder and arson. In particular, the trauma channelled the focus of an ASD-related preoccupation into traumatic re-enactments, re-experiencing with accompanying worldview and beliefs. Recommendations for future research are offered.
