Mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) can be used as an adjunctive therapy for patients with chronic pain. Remote applications have become increasingly popular for delivery of healthcare treatment modalities. Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the available evidence regarding the effectiveness of remote mindfulness therapy in patients with chronic pain. Methods: A narrative review was conducted using PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and PsycINFO to identify experimental studies that addressed remote, mindfulness-based therapy for chronic pain. Results: After an extensive review, four eligible studies were identified. These studies reported significant positive effects from remote mindfulness therapy, including improvements in pain catastrophizing, emotional management of pain, and satisfaction with life. Conclusion: Although limited, evidence suggests that remote mindfulness-based therapy may benefit patients with chronic pain. This study’s findings highlight the potential utility of remote mindfulness therapy as a readily accessible management option. Further studies are needed to fully determine the role of remote mindfulness therapy for the treatment of chronic pain.
