In this review we present a summary of psychotherapeutic interventions with pediatric persons, general principles and categories of the psychotherapeutic, and psychosocial interventions for various mental disorders. Also, a guide is given on the recommended interventions for specific diagnoses and problem areas in mental illnesses of children and adolescents. Interventions considered include supportive psychotherapy, behavioral therapy, parent management training (PMT), parent-child interaction training (PCIT), behavioral classroom management (BCM), play therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy (IPT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), the early intensive behavioral intervention (EIBI), discrete trial training (DTT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), family-based treatment (FBT)- Maudsley method and group psycho-therapy approaches.
