Psoriasis seems to associate with several comorbidities, namely, type 2 diabetes mellitus, Crohn’s disease, hypertension, obesity, metabolic syndrome, cancer, depression and decreased quality of life. An emerging concern is the relationship between psoriasis and the risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD) events. More recently, other cardiovascular risk factors, like overweight and obesity have been associated with psoriasis. The prevalence of high BMI in psoriatic patients seems to be strongly correlated with increased risk for CVD. This book examines psoriasis comorbidities and the incidence of risk factors for cardiovascular disease events psoriasis. (Imprint: Nova)
