ABSTRACT

Jember, known as East Java’s “rice granary,” prioritizes agricultural advancements, particularly in horticulture and seasonal fruits, to improve living standards. Identifying superior regional commodities is essential for enhancing productivity, farmer welfare, and economic growth. Sustainable practices must be integrated to optimize resources and contribute to regional development. This study aims to identify the most promising commodities and prioritize featured horticultural commodities in Jember Regency by applying LQ and Attractive-Competitiveness analyses. The research method used is the experimental method, primary data were interviews and questionnaires, samples were determined purposively, and the analysis used is Location Quotient (LQ) and Attractiveness-Competitiveness Analysis. The results showed that (1) The leading commodities of horticulture and seasonal fruits in rice fields in Jember Regency were large chilies, small chilies, watermelon, and long beans (2) Large chilies, small chilies, watermelons, and long beans are included in the top priority groups, with the competitiveness and attractiveness of agribusiness above the average (3) Development areas for significant chili commodities in Jember Regency are in 12 sub-districts, small chili commodities are in 15 districts, and watermelon commodities are only in 3 districts. Long beans are in 15 districts.
