ABSTRACT
With this inaugural issue of a new journal, I wish to capture an audience who will be amazed and bewildered by the power of a general biochemistry and molecular biology journal. As I start out on this project, I really do not know where it will lead, but I feel strongly that there are many stories and messages that we could help transmit that will not be provided by other journals. It is a source of considerable gratification that friends have responded well to the news of the birth of this new journal and indeed I feel privileged to be in the both challenging and humbling position to try to provide something that is of value to so many colleagues and friends. However, I suspect that as our technology in communications evolves, the older method of journal publication might be somewhat outmoded and multiple strategies need to be developed to communicate our points of view as the scientific literature transforms at ever greater rates.
