Menopause is a natural biological transition marked by the permanent cessation of menstruation, typically occurring between the ages of 45 and 55 as a result of declining estrogen levels. While it represents a normal stage of aging, menopause is accompanied by profound physiological, psychological, and social changes that can have lasting implications for women’s health, well-being, and quality of life. Menopause offers a multidisciplinary exploration of this important life stage, bringing together medical, legal, and jurisprudential perspectives to provide a comprehensive understanding of its diverse implications. Chapter 1 begins by examining osteoporotic fragility fractures—one of the most prevalent yet frequently underrecognized health challenges affecting postmenopausal women—and discusses their clinical significance and impact on long-term health.
