For the first time, to specify the base of meaning production in the discourse and to what extent the discourse is influential, a detailed analysis is applied to one of the essential politico-religious discourses in the Arabo-Islamic societies of “the Friday Oration” or lateralized as (khuṭbatul ǧumʿah). This analysis scrutinizes this type of discourse by scientific lenses that are drawn upon Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) Theory and its essential analytical tools, such as Transitivity Analysis (TA), Transitivity Concordance (TC), Transitivity Template (TT), the Cline of Dynamism (COD), and the Score Table of Dynamism (STD). Applying this method reveals how the speaker produces the meaning. Analysis tries to slice the discourse into layers of meaning, including the outer texts (intertextuality) and their connection to the speaker’s ideology. Some of the additional analytical tools of analysis in this method, such as (COD) and (STD), measure the oration continuum of effectuality. Of course, this politico-religious discourse represents one of the motivational events in a critical period of an unstable region in the Middle East; therefore, this needs to be exposed to a deep analysis. Thus, this book fulfills the main objective of exploring and recognizing the Friday Oration in Saudi Arabia and its impacts on the surrounding environment.
