ABSTRACT
Pediatric obesity is an international epidemic with exponential prevalence rates over recent decades. There are significant physical and psychological consequences of untreated obesity. Treatment approaches can usefully be considered physical, pharmacological, psychological, and social. An understanding of psychiatric factors can help in understanding etiological associations and in developing holistic treatment approaches. This discussion focuses on these issues and other complex interrelationships between obesity and neuroendocrine problems.
