ABSTRACT

Prof. Eugene Ponomarev, is currently working as an Assistant Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He mainly focuses on the research in the immunological aspects of the regulation of inflammation. Inflammation is the local response of our body that occurred when a tissue is injured. All responses start with a trigger, which can be infection or other unknown factors. Memory T cells and antibodies formed during the process can persists in our body for years. In his research field, he particularly focuses on the role of tissue resident macrophages in the regulation of auto-immunity in the central nervous system (CNS) and the role of the white blood cells and platelets in the initiation of inflammatory response in the CNS. In this interview, professor kindly shared with us his high school life, his research experiences, and his career life in Hong Kong.
