ABSTRACT

There are several challenges faced by young people in the contemporary world. First, the economic structure of the world is transforming from a manufacturing economy to a service economy. For the developed countries, a large proportion of the GDP comes from service industries. Hence, there is a need to under-stand how to promote youth development in the changing global economy, particularly their leadership qualities (1-3). At The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, we have developed a classroom-based Service Leadership subject. At the same time, we have developed a Service-Learning subject on Service Leadership. To understand the development of these subjects, we have prepared a paper on the development of these subjects as well as reflection on them (4). Besides, to understand the impact of the subject on the students under the pandemic, we also conducted an evaluation study on the impact of the subject on the students under the pandemic (5).
