ABSTRACT
Training plays an important role in shaping the outcomes of positive youth development (PYD) programs. To facilitate the implementation of Tin Ka Ping P.A.T.H.S. in mainland China, we conducted a 3-day training program in Guangdong in summer 2024, with around 500 teachers and allied professionals joining the workshop. After the training, participants were invited to share their feedback. We collected written responses from 155 participants, with 97% expressing positive views about the training, indicating a high level of satisfaction with the training. Almost all participants shared that the training was impactful and beneficial for their professional development. The impacts include expansion of their knowledge of teaching, enhancement of understanding of the P.A.T.H.S. project, upgrading teaching competence, increase in their knowledge and awareness on the development and mental health of adolescents, encouraging self-reflection on their teaching practice and professional roles, and boosting their confidence in teaching and motivation to learn. Additionally, the participants agreed that the training contributed to their personal growth and well-being. Together with the positive quantitative evaluation findings as well as the previous training evaluation findings, this study highlights the benefits of training programs within the context of positive youth development programs in mainland China.
