In recent years, units of technology transfer and licensing of Higher Education Institutions and some companies have taken on great relevance in promoting research, development, innovation, and commercialization of technologies. An important part of income for the main universities worldwide is obtained from the transfer and commercialization of technologies. Higher Education Institutions in Latin America are following a similar route and have also been strengthening themselves through the creation and consolidation of these units.

This book describes the actions being carried out at the University Institution of Envigado to create the Innovation and Consulting Center (CIC). The aim of CIC is to integrate technological development and its commercial application. The transformation will support the value chain in three ways: 1) capacity building, 2) support and development of research, innovation, and entrepreneurship activities, and 3) supporting the commercialization of outcomes as they migrate from research to the market.
