Vinblastine, vincristine, vinleurosine, vindoline, and catharanthine are notable monoterpenoid indole alkaloids consequential from the plant periwinkle. Vinblastine, vincristine, vinleurosine, and catharanthine are anticancer compounds. Catharanthus roseus belongs to the family of Apocynaceae and has pink and white flowered, used numerous illnesses, including diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure (HBP), constipation, asthma, menorrhagia, rheumatism, indigestion, skin conditions, bloody diarrhoea, and sadness are treated with it. Catharanthine is approximately completely accumulated in the wax exudates on the plant leaf surface, while vindoline is fashioned in specialized leaf cells internally. The plant has numerous pharmacological effects, including antioxidant, antimicrobial, antifeedant, anti-sterility, anthelmintic, antidiabetic and antidiarrheal. Due to independent enlargement in liquid medium exclusive of the use of exogenous hormones, established biochemical and genetic expression, and the potential for terpenoid indole alkaloids such as serpentine, ajmalicine, phenylalanine, tyrosine, tabersonine, catharanthine, and lochnericine to be elicited by methyl jasmonate, chitosan, and fungal elicitation, hairy root culture may perhaps entirely scale up to an industrial scale.
