Triazines, one of the group of herbicides have been often used over past years. Among this group atrazine (2 – chloro – 4 – ethyloamino – 6 – isopropyloamino – s – triazine) is systemic herbicides used world – wide and one of the most popular herbicide in North America. Atrazine has many applications in both agriculture (maize, corn, barley cultivation) and non – agricultural situations (roadside verges). It is very popular herbicide (80% of all herbicides preparation used in maize cultivation contain atrazine), because of its many advantages: simplicity of synthesis, pre – and post emergence application, non – toxic for maize even in large dose. This book discusses the fate of atrazine (from synthesis to degradation products) in environment, taking into consideration its toxicity to living organisms. (Imprint: Nova)
