ABSTRACT

Investigational research is done on a Variable Compression Ratio (VCR) diesel engine fueled with Nano emulsified Jatropha biodiesel blends to assess its performance and emission characteristics. The Jatropha biodiesel its blends namely JME, B10, B20, and B30 are prepared. The Nano emulsified Jatropha biodiesel blends are prepared by adding the Al2O3 Nano additive of average 50 nm sizes in the proportion of 25 to 100 ppm to the selected JME blends by ultra-sonication at 20 kHz for 1hr per liter. A greater BTE and lower specific fuel consumption was perceived with B20 + 50 ppm. It was observed that as the load increases, NOx was increased. The HC and CO emission was reduced with JME-nano Al2O3 emulsion compared to other fuels.
