This volume includes seven chapters that details the mechanisms, resistance, and therapeutic frontiers of antifungals. Chapter 1 provides a comprehensive overview of antifungal agents that are either currently approved for clinical use or undergoing advanced clinical development for the treatment of Candida infections. Chapter 2 presents a comprehensive overview of azole resistance in Aspergillus fumigatus in Latin America, integrating environmental, molecular, and clinical perspectives within a One Health framework. Chapter 3 provides a comprehensive overview of both intrinsic and mutation-driven mechanisms that contribute to antifungal tolerance in Cryptococcus. Chapter 4 summarizes current knowledge on the molecular, cellular and ecological mechanisms underlying antifungal resistance and tolerance in Scedosporium/Lomentospora and Aspergillus species. Chapter 5 explores the integration of nanotechnology with plant-derived biofungicides for the sustainable, environmentally friendly management of crop fungal phytopathogens. Chapter 6 aims to present the current evidence regarding the antifungal activity of phytocannabinoids, as well as the described spectrum and mechanisms of action. Finally, chapter 7 discusses marine actinomycetes as novel fungal resources for the control of plant pathogens.
