This volume contains eight chapters that detail recent advances in health and disease. Chapter One presents the benefits that Beta blockers may provide to the management of acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease. Chapter Two discusses the use of ceramide in skin care products. Chapter Three explores the world of the main terrestrial chalcones, as well as their plant species sources and therapeutic properties. Chapter Four presents a study that tests the basic maximal strength and specific force-time characteristics, and 50% of maximal force indicators in terms of differences in estimating the isometric rate of force development for leg extensors in the context of various athletes. Chapter Five updates the therapeutic indications for theophylline, classification, mechanism of action, pharmacokinetics, adverse effects, place in therapy and its potential as an agent in the treatment of several illnesses. Chapter Six provides information on the trimester-specific thyroid hormones, diagnosis of subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH), pregnancy outcomes in women with SCH, the beneficiary role of LT4 treatment in women with SCH, and the impact of TPOAb or Iodine status on pregnancy outcomes in women with SCH. Chapter Seven focuses on the practical use of acceleration capacity/deceleration capacity detection in growth-restricted fetuses. Lastly, Chapter Eight explains the procedure of open reduction in developmental dysplasia of the hip.
