ABSTRACT

This treatise discusses acute pancreatitis in pediatric patients starting with its definition and epidemiology with focus on pathophysiology, etiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, differential diagnoses, laboratory/imaging studies, complications, and management. Acute pancreatitis is an important condition in the field of pediatric gastro-enterology and general clinicians should have basic knowledge of this condition to help infants, children, and adolescents who develop this complex disorder.
