ABSTRACT

Much has been said about Lincoln’s fitness to serve as commander-in-chief and his rather minimal military experiences prior to his presidency. However, Lincoln’s wartime presidency benefited in many ways from his military service, regardless of its length, and is worth exploring in further detail.
