Clinical social work is a practical helping profession that crucially depends on both scientific connotations and the artistic characteristics. Mostly, in social work literature, it is mentioned that the “self” of clinical social workers is a key factor to influence the helping result. However, there are limited studies that consider the self-image of them. This book examines narrative research and aims to understand the self-image of clinical social workers. Fifteen clinical social workers in Taiwan participated in this study.
According to their narratives, their professional self and personal self indeed impacted their helping experiences. This study confirms that the self of clinical social workers must be involved in the helping processes. (Imprint: Nova)
