Peter Herrmann has a professional background in sociology, political science, philosophy and law. He worked in various third level teaching and research positions, first focusing on social policy and European Integration, orienting increasingly on political economy and later on law/philosophy of law. Professor Hermann is now a research fellow at the Human Rights Centre, Law School, Central South University, PRC.

He also works globally as a social philosopher, an adjunct professor at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF), Department of Social Sciences (Kuopio, Finland), and Honorary Associate Professor at Corvinus University in Budapest.
