In the past year and a half of the SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19 pandemic, many people have had to go to ground in a time of lockdowns and stay-at-home orders. This has meant that large swaths of the world’s population have had to distract themselves. One pastime has been to create common art, using a variety of materials in the home or available from mail order. There has been art created not only with physical or analog materials but also digital, using various equipment and software. Many have made social connections with others on art- and image-sharing sites.
A book on “Common Visual Art in a Social Digital Image” is being edited. A half-dozen works have been submitted, and others are forthcoming. Given the topic breadth, this work would be stronger with even a wider range of contributions.
